Israeli Government and Security Services Websites attacked by 'Anonymous Hackers'

Several Israeli government websites crashed on Sunday in what appeared to be a cyber-attack by Anonymous hackers. The websites of the IDF, Mossad and the Shin Bet security services were among the sites that went down, as well as several government portals and ministries.The Israeli army and intelligence agencies' websites were offline.
In a video that was uploaded to YouTube, Anonymous warns that if the siege on Gaza is maintained, it will have no choice but to go on the attack.. "Your actions are illegal, against democracy, human rights, international, and maritime laws," the statement addressed to the government of Israel and posted on Youtube and Anonymous-affiliated sites said. "Justifying war, murder, illegal interception, and pirate-like activities under an illegal cover of defense will not go unnoticed by us or the people of the world."

"If you continue blocking humanitarian vessels to Gaza or repeat the dreadful actions of May 31st, 2010 against any Gaza Freedom Flotillas then you will leave us no choice but to strike back. Again and again, until you stop," the statement said.

Anonymous said that if the siege continues and Israeli forces intercept additional flotillas, or if they conduct additional operations such as the commandeering of the Mavi Marmara, it will have no alternative but to launch repeated cyber-attacks on Israeli computer systems until the siege ends.

Operation OpIndependencia : Anonymous Hit Mexican Government Official websites

The websites of several Mexican government ministries, including Defense and Public Security, went offline on Thursday, and a hacker group claimed responsibility. Yesterday’s date was significant because it was the symbolic beginning of Mexico’s independence from Spain.

According to Anonymous, blocking Mexican government sites is part of the operation OpIndependencia, but its essence is not disclosed and could not explain their actions.“We are anonymous, we are legion, we don’t forgive, we don’t forget. Wait for us,” said a statement on a blog linked to a Twitter account for Anonymous Hispano.

Meanwhile, X-Ploit's three members say they are tracking senators' Web surfing habits, including visits to porn sites, in addition to initiating hacks against Mexico's Health Ministry, National Water Commission and National Statistics Institute sites."We're only looking to show that we don't agree [with the government]. In other places, these protests are not heard, but a hacked website is read by millions," said LoTek, a member of the X-Ploit group.Both groups are well acquainted with online protests. X-Ploint in February wrote, "We're watching you, Big Brother," on the Mexican Finance Ministry's home page, next to a picture of revolutionary leader Emilio Zapata.

Anonymous, a loosely knit group that has attacked financial and government websites around the world, said it orchestrated the shutdowns as part of what it termed OpIndependencia, but did not give a reason for its actions.

Hackers from the group Anonymous, as a rule, carry out the so-called DDoS-attacks, in which the company’s server simultaneously receives tens of thousands of requests from users. The site can’t withstand such a flood of virtual clients and breaks down. Recent list of group’s victims includes Sony, IMF, several U.S. banks, U.S. Senate, and even the CIA website.The hacker group has launched cyber attacks in several countries before, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.

New Twitter Tool Released by Anonymous : U.R.G.E

 

The Anonymous group of online activists released a new tool today designed to allow people to hijack trending topics on Twitter and tweet messages within them.
Dubbed URGE (for Universal Rapid Gamma Emitter), the beta software is available for download for Windows computers and requires .Net Framework 4 to work.
"This is not a hacking tool nor is it an exploit tool," the group said in a statement. "It was created to make it easier for us to tweet faster without copying and pasting constantly."
Anonymous members say they are annoyed with all the redundant and "pop culture" topics featured on Twitter Trends and want to draw more attention to topics that "actually serve a cause."
"We have taken note of why Twitter would not do so, they only trend topics which would 'appeal' to people and can get people to tweet more," the statement says. "This was pathetic in our eyes, and we could not stand by and take it anymore."
URGE will allow people to spread the message of Anonymous--including "bashing corrupt politicians," among other causes--by riding the coattails of trending topics. "This will help raise awareness of problems going on in this world and show people that real problems exist outside of 'Jersey Shore' and 'Sex,'" according to the statement.
So people interested in singer Jordan Sparks (never heard of her!), National Kiss Day, and the American Jobs Act--which were among the top 10 topics worldwide late today--would conceivably have seen more tweets about the latest San Francisco BART subway protest, civilian unrest in Syria, and President Obama's jobs plan.

Court grants bail to Anonymous and LulzSec suspects

Four alleged UK hackers suspected of being linked to attacks by hacking groups Anonymous and Lulz Security (LulzSec) have been released on bail after a hearing at Westminster magistrates court on the condition that they did not use specific online nicknames on the internet or IRC. 20-year-old Christopher Jan Weatherhead, from Northampton, cannot use the internet nickname 'Nerdo', Ashley Rhodes, 26, from London, is banned from calling himself 'NikonElite' online.

Two other men, aged 24 and 20, have been released on bail following their arrest last week as part of the Metropolitan police investigation into Anonymous and LulzSec. They are due to return to a London police station in November.The two men were arrested separately in South Yorkshire and Wiltshire . They are charged with conspiring to commit offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

Early in July, deep below the radar of the Tar Sands Oil Industry, Anonymous and GreenSec boarded the LulzSub and began a journey of environmental justice. This journey had only one endpoint: success. With all the attention Anonymous recently had received , a sub was the sure choice to ensure maximum impact and minimum damage to the fleet. When Big Brother watches, you go under the surface.


All July, we supported a protest against the Tar Sands oil industry, which ended in protesters dancing on the meeting table of the Governor of Montana. We networked like ants in the internets to get word out about this civil disobedience, and about the issue at hand. Anonymous, the world's greatest think tank, then spent weeks researching the corporations involved, uncovering mountains of email addresses and contact info for employees who work to destroy our planet for profit.


Anonymous then brought the LulzSub to the surface for air and snacks. We immediately caught wind of Tar Sands industry representatives creating fake Twitter and Facebook profiles to spread false enthusiasm about the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, we created an Orinoco Flow of facts and links, sustaining a week-long information campaign. We widely spread word of the upcoming Washington D.C. protests, where now, over 850 people have been arrested at the White House for peaceful sit-ins. By mirroring the actions of these "astroturfers" we hoped to provide a true counterpoint to the artificial hurrahs of the fake accounts.


Our beautiful journey has manifested into a full-on conquest to expose the corruption in the companies who plan to mine this oil and build the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. We will be releasing the ballast of hundreds of corporate emails that we have obtained from the servers of oil industry websites. We encourage people to write personal letters to these people, telling them what you think. The mailservers of Transcanada have been down for two days, and we will continue that fine tradition, hoping to show the world that business as usual stops when the security of the environment is concerned.


The recent release of Wikileaks cables put more raw crude in the tank of the LulzSub, as we continued our voyage. We have found cables that directly prove that Statoil corporation, a major player in the Tar Sands industry, has fired workers in Venezuela for their political leanings, in collusion with state-owned petroleum company PDVSA. Another cable shows that Statoil was paid far more in a compensation package from PDVSA than was reported in the press. Another quotes Canadian Environmental Minister Prentice in saying he is deeply concerned with the effect of the Tar Sands on the image of Canada. We are unearthing much in our deep-sea voyage


We stand in solidarity with the almost 900 brave and civil protesters who have been arrested in front of Obama's temporary home, the indigenous people of Canada, environmental groups around the world, and those of you who dream of new energy sources and a healthier environment.
